What is a dollar worth?

Did you know that the new dollar coins are available?

These coins seem to be attractive and are definately collectible.  The plan is to issue one coin for every president.  Washington, Adams, and Jefferson have already been issued.  However the mint is distributing less and less of the new issues.  In November they are set to issue the James Madison coin and they will probably issue even less of those if they stay on course.

Replacing the dollar bill with the dollar coin could save the government about $500 millian a year.  However, 65% of americans prefer the dollar bill.  I don’t know why.

  • Vending machines
  • Parking meters
  • Toll Roads

I would be curious to know if readers can even go to their banks and get the three dollar coins that have already been issued.

  1. The only place I have ever seen or gotten one of these coins was out of the stamp machine (as change) at the post office. It was the same way with the previous incarnation of a dollar coin.

The problem with the coins is many people don’t normally carry around coins (they weigh too much in the pockets). Usually when I get a coin, it immediately gets thrown into my change cup at home or into the console in my car. Then every so often, I bring the cup to the change counter in my bank and have it deposited into my account. I rarely carry around coins in my pockets.

I rarely even carry paper currency anymore. Debit cards are the way to go.

I don’t have any money to carry around any more, my property taxes are too high, my income tax is too high and I am saving up for Ken Ulman’s new and improved environmental tax. I wish I had your problem of figuring out how I should carry my money around.

  4. Where is “IN GOD WE TRUST”?

    We don’t.

    In us we trust!

  6. I have the same question where is “In God We trust”

I have the answer for that:
Saving government money does’nt save my soul. I’m with the 65% true americans!
