Crime at a glance

Posted by David Keelan on Tuesday, June 13, 2006

From the Baltimore Examiner

This is a tragedy.  I care more about this issue than anything else.  If our wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, neices, aunts, co-workers and friends can't be safe then we have bigger problems than development and education.  I want to hear what candidates have to say about this outrage and what they are going to do to help.

» In the first three months of 2006, 14 rapes have been reported to the Howard County police — a 75 percent increase from the first three months of 2005, when the county saw eight rapes reported in the same time frame.

» Howard County had 42 reported rapes in 2005, 40 in 2004 and 44 in 2003.

I agree, this is a tragedy. I suggest we allow the Police to do what they are trained to do, and trust the Court systems to enforce the laws.
As individuals, and we don’t have to be candidates to do this, lets show love and respect for the women around us. Let’s not promote the thought that woman are just objects. They are human beings deserving to be held at a level of self-esteen as high as we hold ourselves if not higher.
To do this by our actions, as well as our words is to lead by example, and to prevent other men or boys from becoming the type of person or persons that cause this pain not just in the victim, but in all those around her.

    Happy Father’s day.
