I am happy to report that my employer, Verizon Communications, is a sponsor of the Merriweather Concert Series.Verizon is the key sponsor for this concert series, running throughout the summer and into the fall. Visit the Verizon tent to see live demos of FiOS and FiOS TV at the Nickelback concert on July 27. Information and tickets are available at:

Are they going to stick around for next year? Budweiser and McDonald’s have sponsored shows in the past, but they’re nowhere to be seen now. Corporate sponsorships are really a key source of revenue for MPP, as they allow the venue to take on more of the less profitable but more diverse shows.

Ian, I don’t know. I think it is very possible. They got all this fiber in the ground and are trying to go head to head with Comcast so I think it is likely.

Anybody know when FIOS will carry the government and Board of Ed channels?

I called the County Cable Office with the same question last week. According to the Howard County Cable Office VZ and Comcast are negotiating. Comcast provides the feed and the equipment so VZ will have to pay Comcast to carry the channels. They are negotiating terms and conditions.
