Senator Harry Reid

Posted by David Keelan on Tuesday, October 17, 2006

Harry Reid road the high road on Jack Abramhoff and Mark Foley.  Quite honestly he should have.

Newt Gingrich road the high road on Bill Clinton.  Quite honestly he should have.

Then Newt betrayed our trust and cheated on his wife.  He paid the price as he should have.  I remember it clearly.  I could have hit the guy with a brick.  I still like Newt (a lot) but was severely disappointed.  He has since gone on to do some great things.

Harry Reid?  Well you decide for yourself because he just keeps showing up in the papers and it is the AP that is breaking these stories – not a bastion of conservative thought and opinion.  AP’s source?  A Reid staffer.  Reid’s explanation “clerical errors”

The questions?  A $1.1M land deal he didn’t report, and using campaign funds for personal expenses.

The hit piece by John Solomon on Reid has been already shown to not be true. Reid if anything was too zealist in his reporting of the land deal by reporting that he owned the land when the land was sold to an Limited Liability Corporation he also owned. So his reporting was transparent and didn’t hide the land ownership.

John Solomon has a long history of writing hit pieces on Reid that are proved baseless.

    Evan,

I didn’t know that. Can you point me in the right direction so I can post it.

It’s nice to know that our overworked and underpaid public servants can scrape together $400,000 (I hope it wasn’t the kids’ college fund) to invest in a speculative (or maybe not) land venture. Maybe they didn’t need that last pay raise after all.

Word now has it that Reid had dealings (more than we are aware of) with Jack Abramoff. Anyone taking bets he is one of the 6 or so Abramoff was talking about?
