Survey: Less Than Half of all Published Scientists Endorse Global Warming Theory

Of 528 total papers on climate change, only 38 (7%) gave an explicit endorsement of the consensus. If one considers “implicit” endorsement (accepting the consensus without explicit statement), the figure rises to 45%. However, while only 32 papers (6%) reject the consensus outright, the largest category  (48%) are neutral papers, refusing to either accept or reject the hypothesis.  This is no “consensus.”

I don’t know if this is a scientific survey or not the article isn’t clear.  However, just because the UN gathers opinions from 2,500 scientists, not all of who are heard, doesn’t mean that their is concensus.

Mainstream science is not on the fence about this.

  2. Mainstream science? The definition of that term is subject to debate. The NPR story only tells us the history of carbon dioxide tracking/measurement by science over the past 100 years. I don’t understand the relevence here the theory of concensus.

    Did you read the article?

These changing viewpoints represent the advances in climate science over the past decade. While today we are even more certain the earth is warming, we are less certain about the root causes. More importantly, research has shown us that — whatever the cause may be — the amount of warming is unlikely to cause any great calamity for mankind or the planet itself.

    David,

I see your posts over at The Hedgehog Report. This is my first visit to your blog. You do a nice job. What really confounds me about the Global Warming fiasco is that the assumptions used are out of date and erroneous. Several years ago, around the turn of the century, all these dire predictions were based on the fact that there would be 11 billion humans on the earth in 2050. These numbers have been revised downward to about 8.5 billion. This development has huge implications in a number of areas including “global warming”. Plain and simple, it is a farce. Al Gore is getting rich off of peoples stupidity.
