Saturday, President Obama appointed 15 nominees using recess appointments.
From The Hill:
Nevertheless, Obama attributed the need for recess appointments on the “unprecedented level of obstruction” in the U.S. Senate, led primarily by the chamber’s Republicans.
Unprecedented level of obstruction – really? Anyone remember 2007? (From opencongress.org)
On December 26, 2007 Jim Webb was featured on the homepage of OpenCongress:
Though the Senate is on vacation until Jan. 22nd, Jim Webb (D-VA) will be gaveling the Senate into brief sessions in order to block President Bush from making recess appointments, which bypass the usual Senate confirmation process. Webb, selected for the job because of his close proximity to the Capitol, held the first of sessions on Dec. 26th to block the appointment of Steven Bradbury as assistant attorney general.
