Keelan for Howard County Republican Central Committe

Posted by David Keelan on Monday, July 3, 2006

Well, I made it official.  I am running for Central Committee.

Why I am doing this is because I think that like most organizations not everyone on the current committee is active.  They may have started with the best of intentions, but some where along the way they disappeared.

If we want a strong two party system in Howard County we need an active GOP Central Committees.

Where should we spend our money and time?  Local Howard County politics and candidates.  God bless Bob Ehrlich and I will do what I can for him, but he has something like $35M in the bank and a lot of help already.  Our local candidates are the ones I want to focus on.  Who is going to be the next GOP candidate for Governor and after that and after that?  They come from up within the party.  I want to identify those individuals who can serve in that capacity or a lesser capacity.

Recruitment through our grass roots organizations by identifying high quality leaders who are willing to make the necessary sacrifice of time and effort to serve in part time positions.  That is a long term goal.

Short term goals are to assist Chris Merdon, our council candidates, state candidates, Bob Ehrlich, and Michael Steele.  In that order and right now.  This is an election year and one of the most important in recent memory.

Thanks for throwing your hat in the ring, you not only have the intelligence and a strong focus on the issues, but you also will have my vote.

Keelan, you have our support. We need people of like mind on the Central Committee. Conservative, but not too much so. Speaks his mind and calls it like it is with out being a jerk. Knows that all politics are local, to borrow a phrase from a democrat “Tip O’Neil” – no offense intended. Go for it!

Welcome Dave! As a person perpetually at the bottom of the ballot, and will be again this year (names are listed in alphabetical order in Maryalnd), I don’t think it really makes a difference for folks who are out there doing things. Keep up your good work and you and Wafer will do fine!

    Thanks Mary Beth.

Is that why Bush beat Kerry? Kerry was at the bottom of the ballot? :=)

Did you notice Ed is running (shortly after resigning – I think Ed is trying to make a point), and Trent Kittleman is running?

Dave, don’t know the story behind Trent, that is interesting. As you know, Heather is her daughter – and a really nice person.

As I mentioned on the other David’s site, the Hedgehog Report, Ed resigned so that he could support specific candidates that will support 2nd amdt. rights issues important to him. As Central Committee members are not supposed to get involved in specific primary races, it was proper for him to resign.

  9. Hey, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility
issues. When I look at your website in Ie,
it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer,
it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!

    Other then that, fantastic blog!
